The Waterloo Coin Society had there founding meeting on February 17, 1959. The first regular meeting then took place on March 10, 1959 at 7:45Pm with 8 members attending. By the second meeting on April 14, 1959 the membership had increased to 23. The club was founded by William English who felt that fellow numismatists in the area wanted to get together to encourage and promote the collection and study of numismatic items.
